The Eta Clock is a community location device that tells you exactly where your family and friends are spending their time. Instead of constantly checking in on your significant other or your kids, you can glance at the analog clock hanging on your wall.
Currently being funded in a Kickstarter campaign, the Eta Clock is a great way to stay connected to loved ones without being too intrusive. Together with the mobile app, the clock pinpoints exact locations of the people you choose to be connected to it (they have to also choose to be connected to it — it's not a creepy stalking device). Its secure server receives the geolocation coordinates of the person's mobile device, and the clock automatically updates with each new location.
To connect to the device, simply download the app, create an account, and add locations. The clock uses those locations to determine where your family and friends are located throughout their day.
It's more than just a connected device, it's a pretty cool piece of art — and definitely a talking point. The clock is made from oak plywood and laser-engraved with 12 destinations. The face is stained and finished with a matte polyurethane. You get to choose between metallic and primary tones for the aluminum hands.
