Disney's new streaming service isn't set to launch until late 2019, so in the meantime, the company just released a new app for streaming Disney Channel movies, series, live TV, and music. DisneyNow is a customizable app that let's kids watch their favorite Disney Channel movies and TV shows, listen to music, and play fun games whenever they want. With your permission, of course.
The app consolidates the Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, and Radio Disney apps into one. Since the various apps are meant for kids 2 to 14 years old, it has always made sense to keep each app separate. What a two-year-old wants to watch is likely very different from what a 14-year-old watches. But having too many apps on your phone or tablet is annoying (especially multiple apps from the same company, i.e., Disney) and hard to manage, so putting them all in one place was a necessary move.
DisneyNow allows kids (and parents) to customize what they're interested in watching. Users can set up a profile and choose from over 180 Disney avatar characters. And for younger kids, a Disney Junior mode can be selected so they only have access to age-appropriate content.
Just like Netflix, users can pick up where they left off if they can't finish a movie or show (you know, because of bedtime, snack time, play time, homework time, whatever).
Kids can watch live shows as well as on-demand shows that are currently in season. They can also choose from over 100 Disney Channel movies and over 60 games featuring Disney characters. Disney will release new games on a monthly basis.
Download the app for iOS, Android, Kindle, Apple TV, and Roku here. If a phone or tablet isn't available, kids always have the option of watching online.
