The parental controls on YouTube Kids finally allow parents and guardians to handpick the videos and channels they want to allow their children to view. So, instead of relying on the not-always-so-reliable algorithms in the kid-friendly app, parents can now completely be in control of the content their kids see.
To enable the feature go to settings in the YouTube Kids app, and go to your child's profile. Select "approved content only," and tap the "+" button to choose any video, channel, or collection of channels. You can also search for a specific creator or video your child likes. Once this mode is enabled, kids won't be able to perform searches.

For now, the latest parental controls are only available for the Android version of the YouTube Kids app, but it's "coming soon" to iOS, according to YouTube.
