'Selena: The Series' Is Coming to Netflix, and Here's the Trailer

Netflix released the trailer for Selena: The Series, so if you're a fan of the late Tejano star, it's officially time to get excited.

Selena Quintanilla will be played by Christian Serratos, best known for her role as Rosita Espinosa in AMC's The Walking Dead.

The series will follow Selena's humble beginnings as a child in Texas to her rise to superstardom. Netflix describes the show as a coming-of-age story that follows Selena as "her dreams come true and all the heart-wrenching and life-changing choices she and her family have to make as they navigate success, family and music."

After achieving major success and winning a Grammy in 1994, the singer was shot and killed by the president of her fan club on Mar. 31, 1995. She was only 23.

"Selena will always have a lasting place in music history and we feel great responsibility to do justice to her memory," her sister, Suzette Quintanilla, one of the show's executive producers, said in a statement. "With this series, viewers will finally get the full history of Selena, our family and the impact she has had on all of our lives."
