'Squid Game' Is Greenlit for Season 2

Netflix announced that its best/worst show is officially coming back for season 2. Ready or not, ​Squid Game​ is returning.

The news was revealed via a creepy new 10-second trailer that opens on an extreme close-up of the infamous red light, green light animatronic doll. A circle, square, and triangle at the bottom of the screen represent the Squid Game guards with a number 2 appearing in the doll's eye.

In addition to the teaser, Hwang Dong-Hyuk, writer, director, producer, and creator of ​Squid Game​, shared some more insight into what to expect in season 2.

"It took 12 years to bring the first season of ​Squid Game​ to life last year," Dong-Hyuk wrote on Twitter. "But it took 12 days for ​Squid Game​ to become the most popular Netflix series ever. As the writer, director, and producer of ​Squid Game​, a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show."

Dong-Hyuk went on to let fans know which cast members will be returning, including Gi-Hun and The Front Man. He teased that the man in the suit with ddakji "might be back," and Young-hee's boyfriend, Cheol-su will be introduced.

A premiere date hasn't been announced.
