About Streaming Netflix
Netflix, the movie and TV show rental company, offers online streaming video content you can watch on your computer, TV, iPad or gaming console. Every Netflix account subscription comes with access to unlimited streaming content, so you can watch as many videos as you like. On-demand streaming content uses Microsoft Silverlight technology.
To stream content is to connect a device to Netflix for the purpose of watching on-demand movies and TV shows. You can also watch the content on any computer that has an Internet connection. Log in to your Netflix account. Click the "Watch Instantly" tab and click the blue "Play" button underneath the content. If there is a red "Add" button, you cannot watch the content on-demand. Some content has both a blue "Play" button and a red "Add" button. You can either watch on-demand or add the content to your Netflix queue.
Three game consoles interact with Netflix to watch DVDs and TV shows on your television. PlayStation 3, the Wii console and Xbox 360 work with Netflix to stream content. Connect your gaming console to the Internet, sign in to a network account and select the Netflix icon to download and install the Netflix application. Then select the movies and TV shows from the Netflix menus.
Netflix is available on mobile devices, including the iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Windows Phone 7. Netflix is offered as a free app from the iTunes app store or the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace. Download and install on your mobile device. Select the app and watch Netflix streaming content.
Watch streaming content on your TV by one of five ways. You can use a streaming player, a Blu-ray player, a DVR, a home theater or on a specially designed HDTV. To check if your HDTV has Netflix streaming capabilities, check with the manufacturer. Brands include LG, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony, Vizio and Panasonic. The HDTV must have Internet video capabilities to watch Netflix content.
