Comcast Self Installation

By Si Kingston

Comcast will normally install cable boxes for free for new customers and customers who've moved to a new location. If you want to hook up another box in your home, Comcast will typically charge you an installation fee. You can avoid those charges by connecting any additional boxes yourself. To install a new box, you must have a working cable outlet nearby. You will also need some additional cables to connect the cable box to your television set.

Things You'll Need

  • Coaxial cable
  • RCA cable

Step 1

Connect the coaxial cable to the cable outlet on the wall.

Step 2

Insert the other end of the coaxial cable to the "Cable In" jack on the rear of the Comcast cable box.

Step 3

Connect the RCA cable into the yellow "Video Out" and red and white "Audio Out" jacks on the cable box.

Step 4

Connect the other end of the RCA cable into the matching "Video In" jacks on the television.

Step 5

Plug the cable box into the power outlet. Turn on the cable box and television.

Step 6

Select "Input" on your television remote control and select the "Ant/Cable" input.
