Download & Install Yahoo Messenger
Yahoo Messenger offers text, voice and video chatting with all of your Yahoo contacts using dedicated software. This means once you’ve installed Messenger, you don’t need a Web browser to chat. To install and use Yahoo Messenger you need a Yahoo account, a compatible computer and an Internet connection. Yahoo Messenger installs and runs the same on both Windows 7 and Windows 8 systems.
Download and Install
To download Yahoo Messenger, visit the main Messenger website and click “Download Now.” You can save the installer anywhere you want, and if it doesn’t open automatically, double-click the file. Once the installation completes and you run Yahoo Messenger, you must type in your Yahoo username and password to log in, and all of your contacts will appear and you can begin chatting.
For Yahoo Messenger to work at all, you must have Adobe Flash and Java installed, and you need Windows XP or later. Your computer needs at least a 1Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM (or 512MB for Windows XP), 100MB of free hard drive space and an Internet connection of at least 300Kbps. To make audio or video calls in addition to using text chat, you need a microphone, a webcam (for video), Microsoft DirectX and a video card with at least 96MB of memory.
