How Can I Not Show My Friends on Facebook?

By Lara Webster

While you will always have access to your own friend list on Facebook, you might not think your connections are anyone else's business. Fortunately, hiding your friend list from other Facebook users is easily accomplished. Like all other privacy setting changes on Facebook, friends are never notified when you make a change to your friend list visibility. Privacy changes are never permanent, and may be reversed at any time.

Step 1

Log in to your Facebook profile, and click on the "Account" link, located in the top right corner of any screen on the site.

Step 2

Choose "Privacy Settings" from the "Account" menu.

Step 3

Click on the "View Settings" link in the "Connecting on Facebook" section of the privacy page.

Step 4

Click on the gray icon in the "See your friend list" group, about half way down the screen. Choose "Customize" from the drop-down menu that is exposed.

Step 5

Click on the downward arrow in the "Make this visible to these people" section. Choose "Only Me" from the menu, then click the "Save Setting" icon at the bottom of the window.
