When you access the Internet without the protection of a firewall, like the one offered by McAfee, you are leaving yourself open to Internet attacks that could damage your computer. Dangerous websites have been established with the sole purpose of downloading viruses and spyware to your system. If you are having problems with your McAfee software, reinstall it immediately to ensure that your system is continually protected by a firewall when you surf the web.

Log in to McAfee Site
Because McAfee is subscription based, you need to prove that you are entitled to a copy of the software. Log in to the McAfee site using your email address and the password you were given when you first downloaded the product. If you forgot, click "Forgot Your Password?" or "Forgot Your Email Address?" If your McAfee subscription has expired, you will need to purchase a new subscription.
Once you are logged in, scroll down to "My Protection Products." Select the "Download" link and save the files, agree to the terms, then download the file to a folder on your computer that you can find easily.
Disconnect from the Internet
You should not browse the Internet while you are reinstalling your McAfee software because there could be a break in the installation process with the firewall not fully installed. As soon as the file is downloaded to your computer, and you pass the point where McAfee verifies your subscription, disconnect your Internet connection to resist the temptation of browsing websites while you wait. If you have problems during the installation or you're prompted for an Internet connection, reconnect to the Internet immediately.
Allow the McAfee program to reinstall on your system. You will be informed that the new installation will replace the old, so you do not need to uninstall your previous version of McAfee manually. When the program has reinstalled successfully, you will see the "M" icon in your system tray. If you see any warnings or notifications pop up, there may have been a problem with the installation. If this happens, reboot your computer and reinstall the program again.
For the Future
Once you download the McAfee setup file (DMSetup.exe self-extractor), keep it on your computer in a place where you can easily reference it. This way, if you have a problem with your program in the future you can click the icon to reinstall the program without having to log in.
