How Do I Authorize My iPad?

Apple's iPad device can connect to the Internet through a 3G or Wi-Fi connection, depending upon the model you purchase, to download applications and media files. It can also connect to your computer through the iTunes program and synchronize with the files on your computer. However, before this synchronization is possible, you must authorize your computer to synchronize with the iTunes store account on your iPad.

Step

Open a Web browser window, and navigate to the iTunes download page at Apple.com.

Step

Click the blue "Download Now" button at the left side of the window, then save the file to your computer.

Step

Double-click the downloaded iTunes file, then follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Step

Insert the large end of your iPad USB cable into the port on the bottom of the iPad.

Step

Connect the small end of the iPad USB cable to a USB port on your computer, which will prompt the iTunes program to open.

Step

Click "Store" at the top of the window, then click "Authorize This Computer."

Step

Click the "Apple ID" or "AOL ID" option at the left side of the window.

Step

Type your Apple or AOL ID into the "Apple ID" or "AOL ID" field, then type your password into the "Password" field.

Step

Click "Authorize."
