How Do I Get the Euros Symbol in MS Word?

By Leonardo R. Grabkowski

The Euro symbol (€) is a currency symbol used by all nations in the European Union. It's used similarly to the U.S. dollar sign ($). Because the symbol is not commonly used in American English, it does not appear on most U.S. keyboards. Microsoft operating systems, however, support the symbol. You can insert the Euro symbol into a Microsoft Word document using keyboard shortcuts or the handy symbol gallery.

Step 1

Set your mouse cursor in the spot you want to type the Euro symbol.

Step 2

Press and hold the "Alt" button on your keyboard. Type "0128" on your keyboard number pad (on the right side of the keyboard).

Step 3

Type "20ac," then press "Alt + X" for an alternate Euro symbol keyboard shortcut.

Using the Symbol Gallery (Word 2007)

Step 1

Click the tab labeled "Insert."

Step 2

Click the arrow below "Symbol."

Step 3

Click on the Euro symbol. If it's not visible, click "More Symbols."
