Some people call the Internet a tool, others a marketplace and still others call it a community. These views of the Internet are all accurate in some way. If you work online or if you rely on the Internet for information and tools that you can’t easily get elsewhere, you need unlimited Internet access. Whether you’re working or playing games, wireless is a convenient way to get online.
Purchase broadband Internet service from a local ISP such as your cable or phone company. This type of connection is always on and usually unlimited.
Install a wireless router. Connect the broadband modem to the Internet port on the router using a network cable. You must connect with a cable to do the initial setup. Physically connect one computer temporarily to a port on the router using a network cable connected to the network adapter on the computer. Enter the router’s IP address in a web browser. Enter the username and password that came with the router and then make any changes to the wireless settings, such as the name and any security changes you desire.
Disconnect the network cable going from the computer to the router. You can now connect wirelessly. On the computer you want to use wirelessly, go to the network options in the “Control Panel” and select the wireless network and click “Connect.”
