How Do You Download Songs on a MP3 Player?
Most MP3 players operate like flash drives. Using a USB sync cable, the devices can be plugged into the computer and then songs can be transferred using Windows Explorer. The exception to the rule is the iPod, which requires the software iTunes to transfer and download music files. For most other MP3 players, you only need to have your music file in the compatible format (usually MP3 or WMA) and drag it into your device.
Add a Song to Your Sony Walkman, Sansa MP3 Player, Creative Zen Player or Other MP3 Device
Plug in your MP3 player into your computer with the USB sync cable it came with.
Go to your start menu, and click on your "My Computer" folder.
Double-click on your MP3 device inside the "My Computer" folder.
Locate and double-click on the "Music" folder inside your device.
Find your music file on your computer, and then drag and drop the file into the "Music" folder on your device. Your song has now been downloaded.
Add a Song to Your iPod
Plug in your iPod to the computer with the USB sync cable.
Open your iTunes software if it does not open automatically after your iPod has been detected. If you do not have iTunes, go to www.itunes.com to download and install it.
Select your iPod device in the iTunes window.
Select the "File" menu and select "New Playlist."
Drag and drop your files into the new playlist you created. Syncing will occur automatically.
