How to a Disable File Download That is Blocking in Internet Explorer

By Eric Som

The automatic download blocking in Internet Explorer is a security feature that blocks all file download dialog boxes that are not the result of an action you took. Typically, you may see the following message: "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer. Click here for more options." This feature can be annoying, especially if you visit a trustworthy website frequently. Fortunately, you can disable this feature in the program's settings.

Step 1

Open Internet Explorer, select "Tools" and then choose "Internet Options."

Step 2

Click on the "Security" tab and then select the "Custom level" button.

Step 3

Scroll to the "Downloads" section and then select "Enable" under "Automatic prompting for file downloads."
