How to Access Hotmail Email

Windows Live Hotmail is an email service provided by Microsoft. If you recently created a Hotmail account but aren't sure how to access your email, it takes little time to do so. After you sign in to your Hotmail account, you can view and send email.

Step 1

Go to the Windows Live Hotmail Web page to log in to your email account.

Step 2

Look to the "Sign In" section. Enter your Windows Live ID (your Hotmail address, including "") and password. Click the "Sign In" button. You will be taken to your Hotmail account overview.

Step 3

Look at the vertical menu located at the left of the page. You can view your email folders and contacts here.

Step 4

Click "Inbox" from the menu to access your email. New messages are in bold font. If you want to view an email, click the email subject line and the contents of the email will open in the same page.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to create a new email message, select "New" from the horizontal menu at the top of the page. A new email form will open. After you enter the email address, subject and message, click "Send" to send the email.
