How to Access WIM Files?
WIM stands for "Windows Image Format." It is a disk backup file format, which means it's a virtual version of a compact disk that has been digitized for backup and storage purposes. You can access the file by opening it using some software capable of decompressing WIM type files, and then transferring them to your computer's hard drive using native controls. These programs are free to try out.
Download and install a program capable of decompressing and accessing WIM files (see Resources).
Click "Start" in Windows and select "My Computer."
Open the folder where the WIM file is located.
Right-click on the WIM file. Select "Open with."
Double-click the program you downloaded to open the file in a box. Click and drag the contents of the file to your desktop to gain access.
