How to Add a Developer Tab on Microsoft Word

Primarily used as a word processing program, Microsoft Word offers many text editing features that allow you to create a wide variety of documents. In addition to common documents, you can also use macros, XML and ActiveX controls in Word, accessible through the Developer tab. Although the Developer tab does not appear by default, you can add it in Word by following a few steps.

Step 1

Launch Microsoft Word. Click the "File" tab and locate the "Help" section.

Step 2

Click the "Options" button and select the "Customize Ribbon" option.

Step 3

Click the check box next to the "Developer Tab" in the "Customize Ribbon" section. The Developer Tab will now appear in the ribbon.
