How to Add a Printer to a Mac Mini

By David Weedmark

Adding a printer to your Mac Mini is done with tools included in the Mac operating system. Select a printer that's compatible with the Mac OS X operating system and can be connected to your Mac Mini with FireWire or USB, or wirelessly with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. As of May 2011, the Mac Mini contains one FireWire port and four USB ports, as well as Bluetooth and AirPort Wi-Fi connectivity. Older Mac Mini's may not have Bluetooth or wireless, depending on the year you purchased them.

Tips & Warnings

  • When buying a FireWire or USB printer, ask if it comes with a cable. With many printers, you'll need to buy a cable separately.
