How to Add a Website to Yahoo

Websites are only useful if they can be located. To get traffic for your website, the website needs to be submitted to search engines. Websites and web pages, mobile websites and web pages, and video, audio and images can be submitted to Yahoo for inclusion in Yahoo! Search for free. If submitting a mobile site, you need to know if the mobile site uses xHTML, WML or cHTML.

Submit a Website to Yahoo for Free

Step 1

Navigate to the Yahoo website (see Resources).

Step 2

Login in to Yahoo by entering your Yahoo ID and password and clicking the "Sign-in" button. IIf you do not have a Yahoo account, click the "Create New Account" button and follow the instructions to open a Yahoo account.

Step 3

Go to Yahoo's Site Submission page (see Resources). Under the heading "Submit Your Site," click "Submit a Website or Webpage."

Step 4

Enter the URL for the website or web page. Click the "Submit URL" button.

Submit a Mobile Site for Free

Step 1

Navigate to the Yahoo site (see Resources).

Step 2

Login in to Yahoo by entering your Yahoo ID and password and clicking the "Sign-in" button. If you do not have a Yahoo account, click the "Create New Account" button and follow the instructions to open a Yahoo account.

Step 3

Go to Yahoo Site Submission page (see Resources). Under the heading "Submit Your Mobile Site," click on "Submit a Mobile Website or Webpage."

Step 4

Enter the URL for the website or web page. In the drop-down menu, select either "Mobile Site -- xHTML" or "Mobile Site -- WML." Click the "Submit URL" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are submitting a site for a mobile phone you must known whether the mobile site uses xHTML, WML or cHTML. If you do not know if the mobile site uses xHTML, WML or cHTML, contact the webmaster or host for the information.
