How to Add Subs in Nero
Nero is a disc burner that can be used to burn downloaded movies to a disc, allowing the videos to be played in your standalone media player. Subtitles can enhance viewing for people who are hearing-impaired or want to watch a foreign film. Many videos available on the Internet do not have subtitles directly encoded. Nero allows you to burn external subtitles with your video so they can be viewed on a supported player.
Download and Rename the Subtitle File
Go to a website that has subtitles available for download (see Resources).
Click a subtitle in the language you prefer and click the "Download the file" button.
Click "Save" on the download prompt. Note where you have saved the file.
Navigate to where you have saved the subtitle file on your computer.
Right-click the file and then click "Rename."
Rename the file so that the name is identical to the name of your video file.
Add Subtitles and Burn the Disc
Open Nero and click "Make Data CD" if burning to a CD or "Make Data DVD" if burning to a DVD. This will open the Disc Content window.
Click the "Add" button on the left pane. A file browser will open.
Navigate to your video file and then click the "Add" button at the bottom. Navigate to where you saved the downloaded subtitle file and then click "Add." This adds both your video and subtitle files to the burning queue.
Click "Finished" at the bottom of the file browser. This brings you back to the Disc Content window. Click the "Next" Button at the bottom of the window. This loads the Final Burn Settings area.
Type a name for your disc in the Disc name field. Click in the Writing Speed drop-down menu and select the slowest burn speed.
Click the "Burn" button at the bottom to copy your disc. Both the video and subtitle files will be burned onto the disc. The subtitles will either play automatically or be selectable on your standalone player. Refer to the documentation for your player if you need help getting the subtitles to display.
