How to Add YouTube to Vizio Apps

By John Mitchell

YouTube has yet to develop an application that works on Vizio TVs, as of August 2011. In this case, you need to use a third-party app called Web Videos on the TV along with a JavaScript bookmarklet from Flingo. Flingo makes it possible to "fling" or send online videos from many services, including YouTube, directly to your supported TV. All Vizio TVs with the VIA apps are supported and compatible with the Flingo bookmarklet.

Step 1

Power on your Vizio TV. Press the "VIA" button and scroll over to the "Widget Gallery" tab with the remote control's arrow keys. Browse for the "Web Videos" app in the "All Apps" section. Hit the down arrow on the remote to drop down to the "Add Widget to My Profile" option and press the "OK" button. The app is now installed on the VIA Apps bar.

Step 2

Press the "VIA" button and scroll over to the "Web Videos" app. At this point, let the application stay open on the TV screen.

Step 3

Go to your computer and navigate to in your Web browser. Click the large "Fling" graphic and drag it to the browser's bookmarks bar.

Step 4

Navigate to Browse for a video to watch and begin playing it on the computer. Click the "Fling" bookmarklet on the top bookmarks bar. A new page loads in your browser, showing the YouTube video. Click the "Fling to Queue" button.

Step 5

Scroll over with the right arrow key on the TV remote until you reach the "Queue" tab. You see the YouTube video in your queue. Press the appropriate directional arrow keys until you highlight the the video.
