How to Assign Ringtones to an iPhone

The iPhone is a touch-screen phone with all of the media playback features of an iPod and the ability to make phone calls and surf the Internet. One of the first tasks most people like to complete is assigning a ringtone, which is simple with the iPhone. Users also have the option of giving different contacts their own ringtones to help differentiate callers before looking at the screen.

Set Ringtone

Step 1

Navigate to the home screen by pressing the "Home" button.

Step 2

Open the "Settings" application.

Step 3

Select "Sounds," then choose "Ringtones" to open a list of your iPhone's ringtones.

Step 4

Browse and choose your ringtone by tapping it. You can listen to and preview ringtones by tapping them.

Assign Ringtone to Contact

Step 1

Navigate to the home screen by pressing the "Home" button.

Step 2

Tap the "Phone" application icon to open it.

Step 3

Open your "Contacts," then tap the contact you wish to assign a ringtone to. You will then be able to view the contact details.

Step 4

Tap the "Ringtone" section. This opens a list of ringtones.

Step 5

Browse and choose your ringtone by tapping it. You can listen to and preview ringtones by tapping them.
