How to Back Up Contacts in an iPhone

iPhones are multimedia smart phones that include a world of features and programs. Backing up your contacts is one of its essential features, allowing you to save and retrieve contacts in case you lose them during troubleshooting, repair or an iPhone crash. Using the backup utility that comes with iTunes, the default iPhone management program, you can back up your saved contacts in a simple process that takes seconds to complete.

Things You'll Need

  • USB cable

Step 1

Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it.

Step 2

Connect your iPhone to your computer using the USB cable and launch iTunes. iTunes displays your iPhone in the left panel.

Step 3

Right-click your iPhone in the iTunes window and click "Backup." iTunes automatically backs up your iPhone contacts and settings.

Step 4

Right-click the iPhone once the backup is complete and click "Eject." Close iTunes and disconnect your iPod from the computer.
