How to Back Up HTC Contacts

HTC manufacturers some of the most popular smartphones on the market today. These phones can perform a wide variety of functions, from running customized applications to storing phone numbers. Your HTC smartphone likely holds a large amount of data and information you'd rather not lose, such as your contacts. Fortunately, all models of HTC phones offer solutions for backing up your device, saving you the frustration of losing data. The process differs from model to model; you can research and use the process you prefer.

Using Sprite Backup

Step 1

Download Sprite Backup from the Applications CD that came with your device or from HTC's website.

Step 2

Connect your smartphone to your computer using a USB cable.

Step 3

On the mounted CD, choose "Sprite Backup" and follow the installation instructions.

Step 4

Open Sprite Backup on your device by tapping "Start," "Programs," then "Sprite Backup."

Step 5

Tap "Backup Now."

Using Microsoft My Phone

Step 1

Tap "Start," then "Microsoft My Phone."

Step 2

Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your account.

Step 3

Set the backup preferences you'd like. You can choose to back up only certain kinds of data or content (for example, your contacts) in the "Options" menu, or specify a synchronizing schedule in the "Sync Schedule" menu.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use other programs or services, such as Windows Live, Google, Yahoo! or Microsoft Outlook, for your email, contacts and calendar needs. Since these accounts are managed and stored online, you can use them on your device without having to synchronize or back them up yourself.
