How to Back Up Voice Mail on an iPhone

By Mario Calhoun

Voice mails are stored locally on your iPhone, but, if a device error occurs, all your information can be gone in the blink of an eye. ITunes has a backup feature for the iPhone that copies your important data to your computer through the iTunes synchronization process. In addition to voice mails, iTunes backs up text (SMS) messages, phone settings, mail and applications.

Things You'll Need

  • iPhone connector cable
  • iTunes 9 or later

Step 1

Secure your iPhone to your computer by inserting the connector cable into the computer's USB port and the iPhone's port.

Step 2

Open iTunes.

Step 3

Right-click the device's name in the program's side menu.

Step 4

Click "Back Up" and wait for the iPhone to back up iTunes. The backup process consists of five steps and displays the progress at the top of the iTunes window.

Step 5

Click "Controls" and "Eject."
