How to Block Game Requests and Other Invitations on Facebook

Ignoring game requests, event invites, and other invitations in your Facebook notifications is simple enough; however, you can just as easily block them all together, and your friends will never know. You can choose which types of invitations to block in your Facebook "Blocking" settings. You can also block specific Facebook users.

Open Your Facebook Blocking Settings

Log in to your Facebook account, click the drop-down menu in the top-right corner, and then click Settings. Click Blocking in the sidebar.

Block Game Requests and App Invites

For some Facebook users, few things are more maddening than being ambushed by game requests and app invites. Not all Facebook users want to play FarmVille and Candy Crush Saga. You can block specific games, apps, and friends from sending you game requests and app invites.

To block game requests and app invites from a specific friend: In the "Block app invites" section, type the name of a friend in the field beside "Block invites from" and then click on his name.

To block invites and requests from specific games and apps: In the "Block apps" section, type the name of a game or an app in the field beside "Block app" and then click on the game or app's name.

Block Event Invites and Users

You can block event invites from specific friends, and you can block specific Facebook users.

To block event invites from a specific friend: In the "Block event invites" section, type the name of a friend in the field beside "Block invites from" and then click on his name.

To block a specific Facebook user: In the "Block users" section, type the name or email address of a Facebook user in the field beside "Block users" and then click the Block button. Click the Block button beside the user's name.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can unblock friends, apps, games, and users in your Facebook "Blocking" settings by clicking Unblock.

  • Blocked users can't interact with you or your profile.
