How to Block Phone Calls on Verizon

By Krystle Vermes

Verizon has several privacy options available for its customers. By visiting the Verizon Wireless website, you can manage your account and access these privacy settings. If you want to block a caller, you can let Verizon know which numbers you wish to keep from reaching you. Within minutes, you can stop the harassment without even needing to speak with a representative.

Things You'll Need

  • Internet connection

Step 1

Visit the Verizon Wireless site (see the link in Resources below). Click on the "My Verizon" tab and select "My Personal Account" from the drop-down menu.

Step 2

Sign in with your user ID/phone number and password or register your phone with My Verizon if you have not already done so.

Step 3

Click on the "Safe Guard" tab once your My Verizon page has fully loaded.

Step 4

Click on the "Learn More" button under "Block Unwanted Calls & Messages." This will take you to a page where you can input up to five numbers you want blocked.

Step 5

Click on the "Apply" button once you have typed in all of the numbers you wish to block. A confirmation window should appear to let you know your settings have been saved.

Tips & Warnings

  • All blocks made will expire upon the date listed on the Call & Message Blocking page.
  • Effective April 15, 2010 only incoming calls and incoming text/picture/video messages will be blocked (as opposed to email addresses).
