By Contributing Writer

HP Pavilion is a series of desktop computers manufactured by Hewlett-Packard Company. Booting a Pavilion PC from a CD is commonly required to upgrade or reinstall the operating system, or carry out computer troubleshooting. To boot from a disc you need to modify the computer boot priority in the system setup called BIOS (Basic Input/Output System).

  • Installation or bootable CD

Step 1

Insert a bootable CD into the CD-ROM drive of your Pavilion PC.

Step 2

Click the "Start" button from the desktop and choose "Restart" in the "Start" menu to reboot your Pavilion computer.

Step 3

Press the "F1" or "F10" key when the Hewlett-Packard logo appears on the screen to enter the BIOS setup.

Step 4

Navigate to the BIOS menu "Advanced" using the right/left arrow keys on your keyboard.

Step 5

Get to the option "Boot Order" with up/down arrow keys, and press "Enter."

Step 6

Select the first boot device under the "Boot Order menu option and press "Enter."

Step 7

Select "CD-ROM" from the list of available boot devices and press "Enter."

Step 8
