How to Build a VGA to a TV Converter

By Greyson Ferguson

If you are attempting to send the image from your computer to a television with RCA ports, you need to convert the VGA port on your computer to the RCA video port on the television. In order to do this, there are a few different cable connections you need to build so the video signal can travel from the VGA port on your computer into the television's yellow RCA video port.

Things You'll Need

  • VGA cable
  • VGA to RCA cable
  • RCA cable

Step 1

Plug the VGA cable into the VGA port on your computer. Hand-tighten the tightening screws on the side of the VGA cable to ensure a secure connection.

Step 2

Plug the VGA end of the VGA to RCA cable into the free end of the VGA cable.

Step 3

Connect the yellow RCA cable into the RCA end of the VGA to RCA cable.

Step 4

Insert the yellow RCA cable into the yellow RCA "Video In" port on the back of the television. Power on the television and press the "Video" button. You can now see the video content of your computer.
