How to burn a CD using iTunes

By Matthew Burley

You can use iTunes as an organizational system for your music files and play them through your computer, or sync them to an iOS device and play them on there. However, you may want to listen to your music away from the computer in a location where you cannot listen to your iPod or iPad. Fortunately you can use iTunes to burn an audio CD consisting of some of the songs in your iTunes library. This CD can then be played in any CD player, such as one that is in a car or is part of a home audio system.

Step 1

Launch iTunes.

Step 2

Click "File" at the top of the window, and then click "New Playlist."

Step 3

Type a name for your playlist, and then press "Enter" on your keyboard.

Step 4

Click "Music" under "Library" in the column on the left side of the window.

Step 5

Click a song from the music library in the center of the window, and then drag it to the playlist you just created under "Playlists" in the column on the left side of the window. Repeat this step for each song you want to burn to the CD.

Step 6

Click "File" at the top of the window, and then click "Burn Playlist to Disc."

Step 7

Insert a blank CD into your computer's disc drive to start the burning process.
