How to Burn PS3 Games With Nero

By Darla Ferrara

PlayStation 3, produced by the Sony Computer Entertainment division, is fun to own, but the game can be expensive. Backing up game CDs is possible through burning software products such as Nero. Nero is an optical disc authoring program that allows you to copy files in a working format to a CD or DVD. When working with files such as software or games, Nero must be set to burn Data, as opposed to music or video. Once the setting is correct, the process is straightforward.

Things You'll Need

  • Blank burnable CD
  • CD burner
  • Nero 9

Step 1

Insert a blank CD into your CD burner disc drive.

Step 2

Open Nero on the computer. Double-click on the desktop icon or press the "Start" button in the lower left hand corner of the desktop to open the Start menu. Select "All programs" from the Start menu and locate the Nero software. Click on the application to open it from the Start menu.

Step 3

Select "Data Burning" from the Nero menu on the left side of the start page.

Step 4

Choose "Image Recorder" from the Data Burning options.

Step 5

Press the "Add" button on the dialog box. Locate the PS3 game file on the hard drive and click to highlight it. Press "Ok" to select the file. The file will now appear on the Nero screen.

Step 6

Navigate to the "Settings" section by clicking on the "Settings" button. Move to "Writing Speed." Select "Minimum" from the options for writing speed. Press "Ok" to save the setting.

Step 7

Move to the bottom of the Image Recorder dialog box and press "Burn" to start the application. The disc will eject when the process is complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • Burn CDs for PS3 games only to back up the application; copying software may be illegal for any other reason.
