How to Change an Email Address From Comcast to Verizon
Changing Internet service providers means more than just switching out the hardware you use to connect to the Web. You need to move all your important email information over, too. Making the switch usually means manually dragging over valuable emails and contact information to the new account, but not with Verizon. The company's partnered with another company, called TrueSwitch, whose entire service is based on making email transitions seamless. Simply input your log in information for your Comcast and Verizon accounts, and TrueSwitch will do the rest for you.
Open a Web browser and travel to TrueSwitch's Verizon page at trueswitch.com/Verizon.
Press the red "Click to Start" button at the bottom of the page.
Enter your Comcast login information in the "Old Account" column, and your Verizon login information in the "New Account" column. Click "Next."
Choose which settings and options you want to utilize. Copy all your emails and contacts over from your Comcast account and choose to forward any incoming mail from the old account for up to 30 days. Optionally, you can have TrueSwitch send your contacts a message to inform them of your new email address.
Press the confirmation button to finish the process and start importing your Comcast email into your Verizon account.
Tips & Warnings
- Consider sending your contacts an email from your Comcast email account rather than having TrueSwitch send them an email. Many people configure their email settings to reject any mail that isn't from a recognized address, so using the automatic option could result in some people never receiving the message.
- Don't forget to cancel your Comcast account if you don't want to pay for it any longer. You can only use the TrueSwitch service while your Comcast account is still active, however, so try to schedule an overlap between the two services.
