How to Change Batteries in iMac Keyboards

By Julius Vandersteen

The iMac, a computer made by Apple, combines a flat-panel, backlit LED screen with an optical drive, processor, hard drive, speakers and camera into a single unit. The iMac comes with a wireless keyboard that is powered by two AA batteries and pairs with the iMac using Bluetooth. When the keyboard runs low on power, you will see a message on the iMac screen indicating that you need to replace the batteries. You can easily replace them with new AA alkaline, lithium or rechargeable AA batteries.

Things You'll Need

  • Coin

Step 1

Pick up the wireless keyboard and turn it over.

Step 2

Press the "Power" button to turn it off.

Step 3

Insert a coin into the slot on the battery compartment cover and turn it counter-clockwise to open it.

Step 4

Slide the batteries out of the compartment.

Step 5

Insert two fresh batteries, with the plus end facing inward.

Step 6

Place the battery compartment cover back in place, insert a coin into its slot and turn it clockwise to tighten it.

Step 7

Press the "Power" button to turn the keyboard back on. The indicator light will glow, and the keyboard will pair with the iMac.
