How to Change Measurement Units in MS Word 2007

By Sonia Waring

By default Microsoft Word 2007 displays measurements, such as margins, image size and page size, in inches. If you regularly work with colleagues in other countries and need to use metric measurements, or if you handle desktop or Web publishing and work in points or picas, change MS Word's method of quantifying measurements by using the application's advanced options.

Step 1

Open Microsoft Word and click on the "Office" button, in the top left-hand corner of the application window.

Step 2

Click the "Word Options" button.

Step 3

Choose "Advanced" from the Word Options dialog box that opens.

Step 4

Scroll down to the Display group and click on the drop-down menu arrow labeled "Show measurements in units of." Choose inches, centimeters, millimeters, points or picas.

Step 5

Click "OK" to set the selection and exit the Word Options dialog.
