How to Change Screen Saver Settings

Because you spend so much time on your computer, you might want to personalize it and make it fit your personality. One way to do this is to change your screen saver settings. You can used preinstalled screen saver templates that are included in the Windows and Macintosh operating systems. You also have the option of using your own pictures on your screen saver.

Windows XP & Vista

Step 1

"Right-click" on your computer's desktop.

Step 2

Select "Personalize."

Step 3

Click on the "Screen Saver" link.

Step 4

Choose the screen saver you would like to use. You can also select the "Photos" option if you would like to use your own photos from your "Pictures" folder as a screen saver.

Step 5

Set the time you would like for your computer to remain idle before the screen saver activates. Click on the "Settings" button to personalize items such as screen saver text and speed.

Step 6

Click "Apply" to activate your new screen saver settings. Click "OK" to close out of the window.

Macintosh

Step 1

Click on the "System Preferences" option that is located under the Apple menu.

Step 2

Select the "Screen Saver" option.

Step 3

Choose the screen saver of your choice. If you do not see a screen saver you would like to use, you can browse through your photo album to select your own personalized screen saver.

Step 4

Select how long you want the computer be idle before the screen saver activates.

Step 5

Save your new screen saver settings.
