How to Change Text Size

A web page typically has graphics and text that is used to provide information. The text size and color on a web page is usually set by the author using a cascading style sheet. A user that is viewing a web page with a browser can change the size of the text to make it easier to read. Changing the size of the text can be done using the zoom feature on the Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers.

Internet Explorer

Step

Open the Internet Explorer browser by using a desktop or quick link shortcut. Navigate to a web page that needs to have the text changed.

Click on the Page drop down that is located on the right side of the screen. The Zoom and Text Size selections are two options that can be used to change the text size.

Step

Highlight the Zoom option to change the size of the entire page. The Zoom option can be used to increase as well as decrease the size of the entire page. Select the amount to zoom and the page will then be reset.

Step

Highlight the Text Size option to change only the text on the page. Select an option and the text size will be adjusted to the new size.

Firefox

Step

Open the Firefox browser by using a shortcut on the desktop or from the quick launch menu. Navigate to a web page that needs to have the text size changed.

Step

Click on the View drop down that is located in the upper left of the screen. The Zoom option is used to increase the size of the page as well as the text on the screen.

Step

Click the Zoom In option to increase or decrease the size of the entire page. This will change the size of pictures as well as the text on the page.

Step

Click the Zoom Text Only option so that only the text will be changed. A check mark should appear after making the selection.

Step

Click the View drop down and go back to the Zoom option. Click the Zoom In or Zoom Out options and only the text size will change.
