How to Change the Battery Meter on an iPod Touch

Although the customization of the default battery meter on your iPod touch is limited to displaying or hiding the battery percentage, there are default battery meter applications available in the App Store for your device. These applications range from free to $1.99, and vary in the number of features depending on the price. To purchase and download applications from the App Store on your iPod touch, you must have iPhone OS 2.0 or later and an iTunes Store account.

Things You'll Need

  • iPhone OS 2.0 or later
  • iTunes account

Display or Hide Battery Percentage

Step 1

Push the bezel button on your iPod touch, and slide your finger against the arrow tab to unlock it.

Step 2

Tap the "Settings" icon on the screen, and tap the "General" tab.

Step 3

Tap the "Usage" tab, and tap the button on the "Battery Percentage" tab to turn it on or off.

Step 4

Push the bezel button to return to the home screen.

Download Battery Meter Application

Step 1

Tap the "Settings" icon on the screen, and tap the "Wi-Fi" tab.

Step 2

Tap the Wi-Fi switch to enable Wi-Fi, and tap the network from the drop-down list.

Step 3

Enter the network's password, and tap the "Join" button in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Step 4

Push the bezel button to return to the home screen, and tap the "App Store" icon.

Step 5

Tap the "Search" icon, type "battery meter" in the search field and tap the blue "Search" button in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Step 6

Tap any of the search results, and tap the "Download" or purchase button. Tap the "BUY" button, and enter the iTunes account password. Select the "OK" button to begin the download.

Step 7

Select the battery meter application icon on the home screen once the download is complete.
