How to Change WMV to AVI
Windows Media Video (WMV) is a video format developed by Microsoft that supports multiple codecs, such as DivX and Xvid, allowing you to compress video to play on a Windows Media Player (WMP). Audio Video Interleave (AVI) is a multimedia audio and video format that stores media in a container, allowing them to be interleaved in alternate segments. AVI is the most common form of audio and video on PCs. Using a video converter program, converting WMV videos to AVI is a simple process.
Download AVS Video Converter or a similar program (see Resources). Install it on your computer.
Launch the converter program. Click "Browse" on the far right. Locate the WMV video file from the location it is saved on your computer and click "Open" to import it to your program.
Click "To AVI" on the top panel and select the AVI compression you want from the profile window. You can select from HD video, Blackberry format or Creative Zen. Select the correct AVI compression format for the device you want to convert your video for.
Click "Browse" on the lower right panel and select the output path where your converted video will be saved. Click "Convert Now" to convert your video to AVI format.
Tips & Warnings
- There are other video converter programs you can choose from, such as Wondershare and AVC. All vary in input formats and output formats.
