How to Change Your Name in Google Accounts
Google Accounts is an integrated system used to sign in to Google's products, which include Gmail, Blogger and Checkout. Information in Google Accounts follows owners to these products, such as a name in an email sent to a recipient, a blog post or an order placed in Checkout. However, you may not want your full name on a public blog post, but you would prefer your full name on an order placed in Checkout. You have the flexibility to change your name in Google Accounts.
Navigate to the "Google Accounts" home page and sign in.
Scroll down to the "Email addresses" section under "Personal Settings." Click on "Edit" to advance to the next page.
Delete or type over your "First name," "Last name" and "Nickname."
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Save" button.
Click the "Back" link next to the message "Your account information has been updated and saved" to return to "Personal Settings"; it is highlighted in yellow.
Tips & Warnings
- You can change your Google Account "username" to an alternate email address. However, if you use Gmail with your Google Account, it's not possible to change the account username; instead, you can create another Google Account with an alternate Gmail username.
- Be careful to differentiate between your personal "name" and "username."
