How to Charge My Dead iPhone

By Whitney Coy

There is almost no limit to what you can do with an iPhone. For this reason, it's not uncommon to spend much of the day with your iPhone in your hand. It's also not uncommon to find yourself with a dead iPhone. The battery is long lasting, but listening to music or running games or video will wear it down. Fortunately, you have a few different options when it comes to how to charge your dead iPhone.

Things You'll Need

  • USB power adapter
  • Dock Connector to USB cable
  • iPhone car charger

Step 1

Attach the USB power adapter to the Dock Connector to USB cable. Plug the dock end of the cable to the dock connector on your iPhone, and plug the USB power adapter into an outlet. The picture of the battery on the screen will completely fill with green to signify a full charge.

Step 2

Attach the Dock Connector to USB Cable to the iPhone through the dock connector and to your Mac or PC computer through the USB port. The computer will charge the iPhone, unless the computer is in sleep mode or off. In this case, the computer may attempt to draw power from the iPhone instead. The picture of the battery on the screen will completely fill with green to signify a full charge.

Step 3

Plug an iPhone car charger in to the power outlet in your car, and to the iPhone through the dock connector. The picture of the battery on the screen will completely fill with green to signify a full charge.
