How to Check Your Facebook ID

Websites often identify users by user IDs. When you join Facebook, the site assigns you a specific user ID. This ID becomes part of your profile along with your username and other information you provide when you join Facebook. You may never have to use your Facebook ID, but if you wish to check it, you can do so from your Profile page.

Find ID for Normal Accounts

Step

Log in to your Facebook account, and examine the URL that appears in your browser's address bar at the top of the page. The beginning of the URL appears as follows:

Step

http://www.facebook.com/

Step

A name may appear at the end of that URL after the final "/" character. For instance, the URL may appear as shown below:

Step

http://www.facebook.com/jsmith

Step

If your URL has a name at the end of the URL as shown above, write that name down, and proceed to the next section to learn how to check your Facebook ID. Otherwise, continue to the next step.

Step

Click the "Profile" link in the page's upper-right corner. Your Profile page appears.

Step

Examine the URL in your browser's address bar. It changes after you click the "Profile" link. Locate the string, "profile.php?id=" in the URL. Your Facebook ID, a number, appears after the word "id=." Write that value down for future reference. You do not need to review the next section.

Find ID for Personalized Accounts

Step

Type the following text in your browser's address bar:

Step

https://graph.facebook.com/xyz

Step

Replace "xyz" with the name you wrote down in the previous section.

Step

Press "Enter." Your browser navigates to a special Facebook Web page that displays information about your account.

Step

Locate the number next to the word "id." Write that value down. It is your Facebook ID.
