How to Clean a CD Player in an Auto

By Shelley Marie

Car CD players can accumulate dust and dirt on the lens. Because of the limited access to the lens, a CD player lens cleaner kit should be used. Look for a high-quality kit with an ultra soft brush, to prevent scratching or damage to the lens. Regular maintenance of your car CD player prevents skips and disc reading errors. Keep your car interior clean to prevent dust and dirt buildup inside your CD player.

Things You'll Need

  • CD player lens cleaning kit
  • Soft cloth

Step 1

Apply cleaning fluid to the lens cleaning disc if necessary. Turn on the CD player and insert the disc into the player.

Step 2

Press "Play" and follow the instructions according to the manufacturer. Many lens cleaning discs include voice instructions on the disc. Wait for the cleaning process to complete.

Step 3

Remove the disc and test the player with a CD.

Step 4

Wipe off the exterior of the CD player with a soft cloth to remove dust and dirt.
