How to Clean an LCD Flat Screen TV

Some flat-screens on the market use LCD technology. The LCD technology helps make the TV thinner and lighter and produce a quality picture. If you've made the financial investment of an LCD flat screen TV, then you probably care about keeping your TV clean and well maintained. Improper care of your LCD flat screen TV can cause irreversible damage and could also void your warranty, depending on the manufacturer or store you purchased it from.

Things You'll Need

  • Cloths
  • Water
  • Isopropyl alcohol

Step 1

Unplug your LCD flat screen TV from the power source before you start the cleaning process.

Step 2

Dampen a clean cloth with a small amount of water and use it to clean the dust from your LCD flat screen. For now, avoid wiping off the screen. Focus on the sides, the base and the back.

Step 3

Fill an 8 oz. cup with water and add a capful of isopropyl alcohol.

Step 4

Dip a clean cloth into the solution of water and alcohol and thoroughly wring out the cloth . The cloth should be slightly damp, not dripping.

Step 5

Use the damp cloth to carefully clean off the screen of your LCD flat screen. The alcohol in the cleaning solution will clear away any fingerprints or smudges from the screen without damaging the surface.

Step 6

Allow your LCD flat screen TV to dry completely before plugging back into the power source.
