How to Clear Badge Alerts on the iPhone

By Lara Webster

IPhone applications, particularly those that are related to social networking, often afford users the ability to be notified of new messages. These badge alerts are reflected in a red circle with the number of new messages available. The convenient feature can quickly turn into a nuisance for a user with a large amount of applications. Luckily, badge alert settings can be turned off, which will stop future alerts and clear all current ones.

Step 1

Tap the "Settings" icon on the iPhone home page.

Step 2

Select "Notifications" from the menu.

Step 3

Tap the "On/Off" button to the right of the word "Notifications" at the top of the screen to toggle it to the "Off" position and disable all badge alerts.

Step 4

Tap on the name of a particular application from the list to clear the badge alerts for a specific program.
