How to Clear Google Search History on an iPhone

By Amanda Kondolojy

Although the iPhone is sleek and simple in design, it's software is anything but. The Safari Web browser that is standard on all iPhones not only displays Web content, but also keeps a record of all the searches you perform using the integrated search bar. If you do not want a record of your searches to remain on your phone, deleting your search history is very simple and will only take a few seconds.

Step 1

Power on your iPhone and launch the Safari browser by touching the "Safari" icon on your phone.

Step 2

Tap on the "Bookmarks" icon at the bottom right corner of the screen (the icon looks like an open book). Then touch "History" at the top of the screen.

Step 3

Touch "Clear" at the bottom of the screen. A notification will appear asking if you want to "Clear History" or "Cancel." Press "Clear History." All your search history will be erased.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not want your searches saved by default, go to the Google homepage (in your iPhone's Safari browser) and then click on the "Settings" link at the bottom of the page. Then under "Save Recent Searches" select "Off" and press the "Save" button at the bottom.
