How to Clear Temp Files, Cookies, and History in Internet Explorer 7

Temporary Internet files and cookies track your browsing history and help deliver personalized content to you. In addition, Internet Explorer 8 also tracks Web pages you have visited (called History), as well as any form data and passwords you may have saved. While they can be useful, you may find that this information can add up quickly, taking up a lot of space. However, you can easily clear your cache in Internet Explorer 8.

Manually Clear Temp Files, Cookies and History

Step

Launch Internet Explorer 8. From the "Tools" menu, select "Delete Browsing History." The Delete Browsing History dialog appears.

Step

In the dialog, you can preserve website data and stored passwords while deleting cookies. Check or uncheck the items that you wish to delete or preserve. Click "Delete" when done. If you opt to delete everything, you may receive a pop-up confirming whether you're sure that you want to delete the entire Internet Explorer browsing history. Click "Yes" to confirm. A window indicates that your browsing history is being deleted. Depending on the amount of files stored, this may take a few minutes. Do not cancel the procedure. After all history has been cleared, the window will disappear.

Step

Close Internet Explorer 8.

Automatically Delete all Temporary Internet Files

Step

Close Internet Explorer 8. Now each time that you're done browsing the Internet and closing your browser, the temporary Internet files will automatically be deleted.
