How to Connect a Sony DVD Player to a TV

Sony DVD players are equipped with three output jacks for connecting to a television. Each jack is coded yellow, white or red to designate the video output and two stereo outputs, which match the colors on a set of composite AV cables. Plugging in the cables takes under a minute. Sony DVD players comes with a remote control for simple navigation of the features on the player as well as multimedia discs.

Things You'll Need

  • Composite AV cable

Step 1

Turn off the power to the Sony player and the TV.

Step 2

Insert the three plugs on one end of the AV cable into the matching output jacks on the upper right side of the Sony DVD player's rear panel.

Step 3

Connect each plug on the other end of the cable to the AV inputs on the back of the TV, which may be labeled "Composite In," for example.

Step 4

Turn on the Sony player and television.

Step 5

Press the source button on the TV remote until the blue Sony screen appears on the television.
