Step

Place the TV and Cox digital cable box on a TV stand or other flat surface. Turn the equipment around so the back of the devices are facing you.

Step

Plug the coaxial cable coming out of the wall into the “Cable In” port on the back of the Cox digital cable box.

Step

Plug one end of a coaxial cable into the “Cable Out” port on the back of the Cox digital cable box.

Step

Plug the other end of the coaxial cable into the “Antenna In” or similar port on the back of the TV.

Step

If your TV is older, use a 300 ohm matching transformer, found at electronics and home improvement stores, to convert antenna leads to a coaxial connection.

Step

Plug the TV and Cox digital cable box power cords into a electrical outlet.

Step

Place the TV's channel selector on channel “3” or “4.”

Step

Turn on both the TV and Cox digital cable box. The cable box will take a few minutes to boot up.

Step

Install the batteries into the Cox remote control, if necessary.

Step

Test the connection by changing the channel on the Cox digital cable box using the Cox remote control or pressing the “Channel” buttons on the front of the cable box.

Step

You should see the cable channels on your television. If you don't see the cable channels, change the TV's channel selector to channel “3” or “4” and check the connections.
