How to Connect an iPad to a Wi-Fi Network

By Ann Mapleridge

The iPad is the first tablet computer created by Apple. One of the main advantages of the iPad is its ability to connect to and surf the web. If you own an iPad, connecting it to a Wi-Fi network is fairly simple to do and only takes a few minutes.

Step 1

Tap the "Settings" button on your iPad's home screen.

Step 2

Select "Wi-Fi" from the available options.

Step 3

Ensure that the first line of the Wi-Fi menu has the Wi-Fi on your iPad switched to "On." If the Wi-Fi is switched to "Off," slide your finger to turn it to "On."

Step 4

Select a network from the list of available networks. Your iPad will list all of the Wi-Fi networks located around it, with a padlock icon next to those that will require a password to join. Tap the name of the network you would like to join. If the network requires a password, you will be prompted to enter the password.

Step 5

Start surfing the web. Your iPad will remain connected to the Wi-Fi network until you move out of the area.
